Poetry is the music of words and plays a significant role in shaping the sensibilities. Through the use of rhythm, rhyme schemes, and metaphors, this often-forgotten literary form can help language skills in ways that prose cannot.
Beginning in kindergarten, students at St. Anthony Academy are given weekly poems that they are required to memorize and recite. We have an annual Poetry Pageant in the fall where they showcase their skills in public recitation.
